Peewee softball teams split games

The Athabasca Pee Wee Trappers baseball teams played twice against each other May 29 and 31, and each of them went 1-and-1. The first night, the game went at Jewell Ball Park, where Team 1 managed to win 28-18 over team two.

The Athabasca Pee Wee Trappers baseball teams played twice against each other May 29 and 31, and each of them went 1-and-1.

The first night, the game went at Jewell Ball Park, where Team 1 managed to win 28-18 over team two.

Kevin Senyk, a co-coach for Team 1, said that both teams played a good game.

"I think the girls learned a lot during this game," said Senyk. "They listened at our practices, and did what we told them to do, and I believe that's the reason they came out on top."

The first inning was a little closer, with the score being 4-3 for Team 1. The second inning is when Team 1 really started to dominate. They scored the maximum seven runs in in this inning, while Team 2 only managed to get one, putting the score at 11-4.

The third inning saw some improvement for Team 2, as they managed to score five runs, while Team 1 got two this inning, putting the score at 13-9 for Team 1.

But in the fourth, it was Team 1 all over again, taking seven runs while their opponents only managed two, putting the score at 19-11. The fifth inning saw 14 runs scored, with each of the teams getting their maximum seven. Score 27-18. The sixth inning was short, with Team 1 getting a single run, while Team 2 got nothing.

After the game, Team 2 head coach Leanne Jewell said the team, although a little nervous, played really well.

"They had fun," said Jewell. "Overall, the girls started feeling more confident about the positions they were playing, so I hope they try a little something different in their next game."

And things did go differently in their second game on May 31.

It was Team 2 who came out on top at the Slow Pitch diamond at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex, destroying Team 1 by a score of 32-15.

"The girls finally got past their nerves from the May 29 game," said Jewell. "They were playing a little bit more cohesively, and our pitchers were a little bit faster in this game, so that made a bit of a difference as well."

One of the Team 2 players, Charley Young, got one of the home runs of the evening. She said it felt good.

"I'm hoping that we can bring this team's mood into our next game," said Young. "Our next game is against Westlock 1, a team we have not faced before, so it should be a bit of a challenge."

Team 2 dominated from the beginning, as they scored six runs to just two for Team 1. The second inning was a little closer, with four runs for Team 2 and three for Team 1, putting the score at 10-5.

The third inning saw Team 2 score five, while Team 1 got blanked. The fourth inning was Team 1's only bright spot of the game, as they got the maximum seven runs, while Team 2 got four. Score now 19-12.

The fifth and deciding inning did not have a seven-run limit, and Team 2 took advantage of that, They managed to outscore their opponents 13-2, putting the final score at 32-15.

Following the loss, co-coach Senyk said it's clear that Team 1 still has more preparations to do.

"They certainly were not prepared for this game like they were on May 29," he said. "Overall, they were a little flat-footed."

But overall, he added the girls had lots of fun.

"They were a lot happier with this game than they were with the last one, and they won the last one," Senyk said. "As long as the girls are out there having fun, we have fulfilled our objective."
