Kerry Levalley was one of four brave contestants to try their hand at the horse riding section of the 2017 Amateur Highridge Rodeo July 8. Levalley earned a score of 68 points and won the honour of champion.

Pickleball is back. After nearly a five-year hiatus, Barrhead Pickleball is hoping to revive the sport.

A comeback that could only be described as epic wasn’t enough to give the Red Lions their home tournament title. Four teams, including the Red Lions, played July 8-9 for the second annual John Golonowski Tournament title.

Nisha Buksh had a day all golfers dream about. Competing in the July 6 Westlock Golf Course Seniors Open, Buksh aced the par three sixth hole on her way to claiming the event’s championship women’s flight.

The Westlock Midget Rock bulldozed through Greater Edmonton Lacrosse League playoffs in Edmonton and St. Albert June 20-28 to claim the league championship.

Yee-haw its rodeo time once again in Highridge. The Highridge Agriculture Society on July 8 will be hosting its 16th annual Highridge Rodeo. Admission is $5.

A new sport is coming to Barrhead. Or at least it is new for the majority of people in the area. On Aug. 26, Boneyard OCR will be bringing Wilderness, X-Warrior Challenge event to its facility near Peanut Lake.

The Barrhead Swim Club is one step closer to a fully functioning club. About 20 people gathered at the Barrhead Agrena’s multipurpose room June 14 to hear the status of the recently-resurrected club.

The Barrhead Swim Club might not have any swimmers yet, but when they do they will have a full slate of coaches.
