BALTIMORE (AP) — Jerry Walker, who at age 20 became the youngest player to start the All-Star Game when he took the mound representing the Baltimore Orioles in 1959, has died. He was 85. The Orioles announced Walker's death Wednesday.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Eddie Dunning, who painted the South Carolina Gamecock logo at midfield in Williams-Brice Stadium for 40 seasons, has died, university officials said. He was 69.

NEW YORK (AP) — Kathy Willens, a pathbreaking photojournalist who helped cement women's place behind the lens everywhere from the Super Bowl to war-torn Somalia during her nearly 45-year career at The Associated Press, died Tuesday. She was 74.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Peter Courtney, Oregon’s longest-serving lawmaker and a politician who was known for his bipartisanship and skills as a dealmaker, died Tuesday, officials said. He was 81.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, the father of the late Basketball Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, has died, his alma mater announced Tuesday. Bryant, who spent eight seasons in the NBA with three different franchises, was 69.

James Sikking, who starred as a hardened police lieutenant on “Hill Street Blues” and as the titular character's kindhearted dad on “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” has died at 90.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Shannen Doherty, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star whose life and career were roiled by illness and tabloid stories, has died at 53.
