BATOG, EMILIA (MILLIE)

Emilia (Millie) Batog, 88, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Westlock Care Centre. She was born April 11, 1935, in Lost River, Ontario, to Caroline and Wilfred Marchand.

She met Lucien Routhier (1st husband) and had three children Diane, Nicole and Regent (Reg). Upon Lucien’s death, she moved to Hinton where she eventually met Ted (Theodore) Batog (2nd husband) in Bush Camp #20. They were married October 1st, 1960. She and her family continued to live and work in Hinton until 1980 at which time they moved to Pibroch area and then to Westlock in 1995 where she lived until her death.

Emilia is survived by her sister Joan (Al) Needham, Nalbert Marchand, sister-in-law Wanda Batog, children - Nicole Batog, Reg Batog, Bruce (Carla) Batog, Wayne (Grace) Batog, Charlene (Luc) Sabourin plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Emilia was predeceased in death by her parents, Lucien Routhier (1st husband), Ted Batog (2nd husband), daughter Diane Stewart, brother Reginald Marchand, sisters Rose Therrien, Jackie Crouteau, Doris Rink, Pauline Cornelius, garndchildren – Shane Stewart (Diane), Hope Batog (Bruce), Shayne Batog (Reg).

The family wishes to send a special thank you to all the staff at Westlock Long Term Care, especially those who cared for Emilia when she could no longer maintain her daily independence or do the simplest daily tasks for the last three years and to Judy McLaughlin for her committed weekly companionship, it will always be remembered.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westlock Health Care Auxiliary Society or to a charity of their wish.

On April 6, 2024, a Catholic service will be held at 1 pm at Westlock St. Mary’s Parish, everyone is invited to wait at the Westlock Legion for repast before the family returns from internment at the Tawatinaw Cemetery. Emilia’s eulogy will be read, slide show presented and evening dinner.
