Alfred “Buddy” Steinberg Eastman

June 21, 1935 - January 31, 2024

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved father and Afi, Alfred “Buddy” Eastman on January 31, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

Dad leaves behind to cherish his memory daughter Tracy and her husband Dwight, son Todd and his wife Danielle, grandchildren Kyle, Cody, Nicholas, Marshall, and Daniel, sister Margaret, sister Irene, sister Rosemarie (Roger), brother-in-law Bobby, sister-in-law Marilyn, sister-in-law Barb (Barry), brother-in-law Richie, sister-in-law Linda, sister-in-law Sharon, sister-in-law Val, sister-in-law Bev (Bill), sister-in-law Doreen (Clyde), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Dad is joining in heaven his wife of 41 years, Sandra, parents Dori and Herdis Eastman, brother Dori and sister-in-law Pat Eastman, sister Gladys Gudmundson, brother-in-law Steini Sigvaldason, father-in-law Arnold and mother-in-law Anne Bardarson, brother-in-law Hugh Sigurdson, sister-in-law Dorothy Johannson, brother-in-law Arnie Bardarson, brother-in-law Richard Bardarson.

Dad was born June 21, 1935, in Riverton, Manitoba, the second oldest of six children in the Eastman family. Riverton always felt like his true home… Dad was proud of his Icelandic heritage and of course playing on the Lions hockey team. After his marriage to Mom in 1969, Dad started working as an auditor for Gulf Canada and eventually moved West and settled in Calgary. For many years, he was passionately involved in his love for hockey, as a coach, a volunteer, and an avid spectator of his grandsons. During that time, he made many family friends and precious memories that he truly cherished.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the staff at Shepherd’s Care Foundation and Pembina Lodge. Your caring and support for Dad will always be remembered.

We will always love you Afi. “Goda Nott”
