Robert (Bob) John Edgar
February 25, 1947 - May 12, 2025
Suddenly on May 12, 2025 Bob at age of 78 passed away with his wife Carrie Diacos at his side at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Judi and his parents Lorne and Jean.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife Carrie, sister Janet Coppinger and her husband Steve, brother Bill and Carrie’s family.
He cherished his role as Uncle Bob to all his nieces, nephews and their children and proud of all their achievements.
Bob married Judi Turner in 1971 in Winnipeg. They would spend part of their summers at Metigoshe in southern Manitoba at their cottage with family nearby.
Bob and Judi got involved in the “dog game” raising Wheatfield Kennel award winning field trial and show golden retrievers.
He was a graduate from University of Winnipeg and went on to be a manager at Sears in Winnipeg and then Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1985 he purchased a Macleod’s True Value store in Athabasca, Alberta. Bob and Judi were heavily involved in the community especially with Ducks Unlimited, curling and the school system. Here he made some great friendships that continued even when he moved back to Winnipeg.
Bob suffered a serious stroke in 2005 but he persevered and worked hard to regain his strength and mobility. A second small stroke in 2017 slowed him down a bit - but again he fought back.
In retirement, Bob and Judi started spending winters in Florence, Arizona where he made friends from all over the US and Canada. Judi passed away in 2013.
Bob found a good reason to return to Winnipeg where he married longtime friend, Carrie Diacos in 2021 after a few years of traveling back and forth from Athabasca. They continued to winter in Arizona including this past one.
By being back in Winnipeg, Bob was able to enjoy time with his family and Carrie’s and old friends.
Celebration of Life to take place June 20th at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place.
