Betty “Arlene” Fischer
1946 - 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbour, and friend.
Forever loved and missed by those she left behind, Dannie, her loving husband of 55 years; her children, Johanna Elliot (Gerald) and Allan Fischer (Barbara); treasured grandchildren: Wilson and Nolan Elliot, Kiera and Matthew Fischer; and sister, Sheila Whitmore (Keith). Arlene will also be missed by many extended and honorary family members, and all the special “little people” in her life.
Arlene was predeceased by her mom, Bernice Wilson; dad, Martin Wilson; her husband’s parents, Phyllis and Bill Fischer; brother-in-law, Ronnie Fischer; sister-in-law, Diane Wigley; and nephew, Lance Wigley.
Arlene was raised in Rochfort Bridge where she met the love of her life, Dannie, and they raised their family in the Mayerthorpe area. She taught school for many years, with a pause to raise her children until they were in school before resuming her career. She was passionate about teaching, farming, her garden, crafting, sewing and above all our family.
Mom was a strong community member, volunteer and friend who always had time for a visit over coffee or a chat on the phone. She enjoyed cooking and there was always plenty for anyone who happened to drop in. She was a very proud Grandmother who would share pictures and stories with everyone she met!
A Celebration of Arlene’s Life was held at the Mayerthorpe Diamond Centre on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., interment followed at the Mayerthorpe Cemetery.
