FRANK GREENFIELD
1929-2025
With great sadness but hearts full of love, the family of Frank Greenfield announces his peaceful passing on July 10, 2025, at age 96. Dad was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Dad was born in Westlock, AB, on April 28, 1929, to Arnold and Leona (Himburg). He grew up helping his father, mother, and brother, Grant, on the family farm just south of Westlock. Dad loved life on the farm. After graduating from Westlock High School, he attended Vermillion Agricultural College and made many great lifelong friendships, made wonderful memories and he often said that those two years were some of his fondest.
Dad soon met a lovely lady named Joyce McCutcheon, and married in 1957. Together, they raised three children on the farm. They were married for 66 years until Mom’s passing in 2023.
A wonderful farmer and a natural salesman, Dad spent many years juggling farming and selling crop and hail insurance. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and made good friends throughout his various careers.
Full of integrity, Dad was a humble, kind, and compassionate man who looked for the positive in people and in life. His motto was always “glass half full”. He enjoyed socializing and having friends over to share a coffee, a meal or a cold glass of beer. Dad loved his family beyond measure, always putting us first. He was an incredible role model.
A man of many interests, Dad loved to dance, to curl and delve into history. Dad looked forward to family summer vacations to Jasper and Banff, Fairmont Hot Springs, and Montana in our truck and camper. In their later years, Dad and Mom ventured further, traveling to the U.S. Mexico and Europe. Hawaii was always their favourite destination to escape those cold Westlock winters.
Dad was very involved in the community of Westlock. He served as a Kinsman and a Mason, volunteered at the Westlock Fair, and sat on the Municipal Planning and the Westlock Seed Cleaning Plant Boards.
Frank is survived by his children, Carol (Kim), Jim (Laura) and Neil (Sarah); his grandchildren, Jenna (Rick) and Jeff (Alexandra); his great-grandchildren, Frankie and Wren; his brother, Grant (Margot) and their children, Allan and Suzanne; and his niece Linda.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Joyce; as well as his parents, Arnold and Leona; and his very special aunt, Mildred.
As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dad’s name may be sent to Westlock Continuing Care, Healing Hearts Inc, or a charity of your choice.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to Dr. Chan and the amazing, compassionate teams at Smithfield Lodge, Westlock Continuing Care Centre and Healing Hearts Inc. Your care and support for Dad will always be remembered.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” Fly free, Dad. We will meet again.
