Ronald Kochan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Barry Kochan, who departed from this world on January 22, 2024. He was 67 years old.
Born on February 24, 1956 in Westlock, Ron was a beloved father, son, brother, spouse, uncle, and grandfather (Geido). He touched the lives of many with his kindness, compassion, and unique sense of humor.
Ron is predeceased by his wife, Katherine, of 45 years. He is survived by his children, Candice (David), Leslie (Anna-Marie), and Melaney (Reid) and mother-in-law, Gladys. He was a special Geido to his 5 grandchildren; Henry, Cleo, Griffin, Bridget, and Mabel. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Jim (Valerie), and sister Dianne (George) along with nieces and nephews.
Ron grew up on his family’s homestead in Flatbush, where he then returned to raise his family and continue farming. He had many interests in his younger days, including motorcycles, cars, music, wood working, and days at the lake. He enjoyed volunteering on the community fire department and participating in 4H activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the solace of outdoors and most especially the company of others. Ron loved to tell stories, regardless if you’ve heard them countless times. Large family gatherings were what made Ron happiest. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A service to commemorate the life of Ron will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, 1:00pm at Flatbush Community Complex.
