Gertrude (Trudy) Lee
Gertrude Lee (Mantei) passed away on July 6 surrounded by her loving family. Gertrude was born on August 21, 1940 in Nowa Zalucze, Poland. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1951.
At eleven years of age, Gertrude and Elsie and parents arrived in Manola. Arnie joined the family 2 years later. Gertrude met Bob at her high school graduation. They soon fell in love, were married and their family followed. Bob and Gert owned and ran Barrhead Flower and Gift for 30 years. Gertrude was an active member of the Kinettes, UCW and the United Church Sunday school. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchild around.
Gertrude is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Robert. Children; Tim (Jill), Anne Girard (Byron Cross), and Jeff (Annette). Grandchildren; James and David Lee, Miranda (Lance) Harris, Matthew Girard, Aaron, Jordan and Jared Lee. Special grandchildren; Greg (Kim) Girard, Kristi Girard, Hunter, Cadence, Emma and Liam and great grandchild, Sydney Harris. Her sister, Elsie Schmidt (Gilbert) and brother, Arnie Mantei (Dana). Sister-in-law, Ruby Dyer (Wilf) and brother-in-law, Bill Lee (Carol) and many special nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Predeceased by her brother in infancy Irvin, parents Alex and Olga Mantei, parents-in-law Lloyd and Ethel Lee, and son-in-law Darrell Girard, brother and
sister-in-law Leonard and Vivian Schmidt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Barrhead United Church on July 16, 2021 at 2:00pm. A private interment will be held prior to service. Donations can be made to a charity of choice.
The Lee Family would like to thank Dr. Tawfik and the medical team at the Barrhead Hospital for the care shown to Gertrude and her family.
