McKELLAR, Kenneth Cameron

July 30, 1942 – March 29, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Kenneth Cameron McKellar of Westlock, Alberta, on March 29, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Ethel of 41 years; daughters Connie (Tim-predeceased) Karl of Reporoa, New Zealand, Tammy “inch” (Colin) Wheatling of Calgary, AB; son Brian (Darcy) of Westlock, AB; grandchildren Brian, Katie, Sarah, Reyn, Lindsey, Joshua, Jessica, Kennedy, Jordan; great-grandchildren Myles, Jase, Liv, Izik, Fenik; sisters Betty (Lorne predeceased) Gould, Kathy (Bob) Weston and Linda (Harvey Linnen) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ken was predeceased by son Richard, brothers George, Duncan, and Don, sister Ann Elliot, father Louis Gerome, mother Nellie Winona (Pearl), son-in-law Tim Karl and several aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

Ken was born and raised on the farm near Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, where he learned and loved to ride and train horses and all things farm life had to offer. In the early 70’s he and his first wife Shirley (Nee Ingram) moved to Raymond, AB, where he had a construction company and was a Lion’s Club Member. In the 80’s he moved to Lundbreck,AB, to build homes there, meeting and marrying Ettie. Together they ranched in the shadow of the Livingstone Range and later moved to a farm at Busby, AB, where a nurse cow/calf operation was created. Leaving the wonderful country way of life, they moved to Westlock, AB, to start Left & Right Foot Care business.

Ken was an avid hunter and passed the love for hunting on to son Brian, taught daughter Tammy the joys of planting and gardening, enjoyed his trips to visit daughter Connie in NZ on her dairy farm. Ken was happiest outdoors, with horses, cattle, Lily flowers, family, and old-fashioned country music.

Thanks to all the staff at the Westlock Hospital, thank you to Dr. Mydeen for your compassion and care, and a special thank you to the Home Care staff and Palliative Care Team.

At Ken’s request, no service will be held, however he will be smiling from above if you pay kindness to any human or animal in remembrance of him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Healing Hearts Inc. 10172 107 ST. Westlock, AB T7P 1X3. Ph (780) 307-4500 [email protected].
