LARRY JOHN OLSON

May 5, 1945 - July 27, 2022

Following a lengthy battle with COPD, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He slipped away peacefully at the age of 77 years old. Larry was born in Barrhead, AB and lived in the Fort Assiniboine area most of his life. He was raised on a farm and at a young age he became interested in hunting, trapping and fishing. His first job was for Bannister Pipeline at the age of 16. Later on he farmed pigs and chickens, until he started T&L Trenching with his brother Tom in 1975. They installed water and sewer services and hauled gravel in the summer. In winter they hauled logs. T&L Trenching expanded and eventually became T&L Aggregates Ltd, which Larry successfully owned and operated for the remainder of his working years. His pride and joy was serving the Swan Hills oilfield and his local customers, striving always to do the best work possible. Larry was incredibly patient, hard-working and tenacious in everything he did.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Rosanne (nee Terpsma) of 36 years; his children: Louise (Mark) Ralston, Danny(Coleen) Olson, and Debbie (Reuben) VanAssen; his 10 grandchildren: Curtis, Brittany(James), and Jacqueline Ralston; Taylor (Aiyanna), Trey (Breann), and Levi Olson; Preston, Adele, Odessa and Orren VanAssen; his one great-granddaughter Lily Olson; his siblings: David (Donna) Olson, Tom(Patty) Olson, and Donna (Bruce) Patrick; his only surviving Aunt, MaryFleming (nee Zwarg). He will also be missed by his cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents: Orren (Nov 1978) & Helen (May 2017) Olson, as well as his nephew Christopher Patrick (Dec 1996).

A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Topland Hall @ 11:00 a.m. A private family interment was held at the Topland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Larry’s memory to the Fort Assiniboine Trapper’s Association or the Topland Hall.
