Gordon Patterson

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Keith Patterson at the age of 90. Gordon was born March 15, 1932, second son of Jack and Luella Patterson and passed away September 03, 2022. Gordon was raised in the Roselea District in the County of Barrhead and attended the Roselea School.

At an early age Gordon went to work for his Uncle Arthur and at the age of 16, he spent the winter with Fred Torvaldson on the trap line on the Doris and Clearwater Creeks, north and east of Fort Assiniboine. Then the following spring trapping alongside Dewey Granger. The winters of 52-53 and 53 — 54 Gordon worked at the Imperial Lumber Company at Kidney Lake, NE of Fort Assiniboine. During the summers Gordon worked for his Uncle Tom on his farm in the Mystery Lake area.
In 1964 Tom decided to retire and Gordon bought his farm.

In July of 1965 Gordon married Joyce Paisley of Fort Assiniboine and farmed together and lived there till his passing. Gordon worked many construction jobs over the years including the oilfields in Fort Mac Murray and Drayton Valley, clearing right of ways for Calgary Power and building dykes on the Paddle River. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce, sister, Eileen, brother-in law John Paisley, and sister -in-law, Verla.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Jack in 1965 and Luella in 1970. Two brothers Glen in 2007 and Don in 2019 and sister-in-law Marie in 2015.

Cremation has taken place and as per Gordon’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Burial to take place at the Rose Glen Cemetery at a later date.
