ROWNTREE, David Albert
July 29th, 1931 – April 11th, 2021
It is with sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of David Albert Rowntree of Smith, Alberta, on April 11th, 2021 at the age of 89 years old.
He will be remembered by his son Fred (Janice) and daughters Barb (John) and Diana (Dale); his grandchildren Lyneve, Nick, John, Tom, Paul, Mike, Dan, and Lisa, as well as his 17 great-grandchildren.
Dave may have been small in stature, but he was mighty in character. He provided guidance in all aspects of life to his family and also to many more in his circle. He was a farming mentor in his community, offering neighbors advice, help (usually along with Rowntree “poetry”) and of course, his cowboy coffee. During his years of working on the rigs he made and kept many lifelong friends. All could attest to Dave’s big heart, giving nature and contagious laughter. He lived his life in the manner he wanted and passed in the same way. Dave decided to take a small rest before going to get hay to feed his herd of cattle and passed away peacefully on the farm.
Dave was looking forward to seeing family and friends at his 90th birthday in July. Our plan is to gather and celebrate his life at that time if health restrictions permit.
