CORNELIUS SCHURING
SEPTEMBER 22, 1932 – JANUARY 08, 2023
On Sunday, January 08, 2023, Cornelius Schuring went home peacefully to his heavenly father at the age of 90 surrounded by his family.
Cornelius (Cor) will forever remain in the hearts of his wife of almost 65yrs, Lena Hermina Schuring (nee VanderZouwen), his 11 children, Hermina Everett (Tomm), John, Arie (Megan Olthuis), Anne Nicolai (Malcolm), Trudy Quartel (Harvey), Peter (Judy Haarsma), Nell Aukema (John), Winson (Tammy Sorg), David, Janet Verlinden (Ken), Audrey Visser (Mark), 49 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, brother Wilburt (Whilemina), sister Jentien Hardy (Jim), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cornelius is predeceased and reunited with his father John and his mother Anna (nee Elzinga) and infant siblings.
Cor was born and raised in Neerlandia Alberta. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He worked full time for the Government of Alberta in Lands and Forest and then Natural Energy and Resources until his retirement. He also farmed in Neerlandia; taking advantage of all weekends and holidays to do so. He will always be remembered as a family man and a faithful servant of God and his church. Those who knew him adored him.
The family wishes to thank and express their gratitude to the ICU staff at the Royal Alexandra hospital for the amazing care they provided.
An interment will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 10:00am in Neerlandia, AB with his family and those wishing to come, followed by a memorial service held at Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Edmonton, AB at 1:30pm.
