In Loving Memory of Stanley M. Tarrant resident of Athabasca passed away on November 27, 2020 at the Westlock Continuing Care from Covid19 at the age of 95 years.

Stan was born on July 18, 1925 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. Stan had 8 siblings. He spent his childhood and school years in Gunton, MB. Stan enlisted in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. It was in the Army service, where he met the love of his life; Mary. Stan and Mary were married in 1946. Together they raised 8 children. They resided in the Grande Prairie area after marriage. Then In 1961 Stan and Mary moved their family to Athabasca and opened the first tire business in the area; S & R Tire, which he operated for more than 40+ years. He never hesitated and was always willing to help people out at any hour of the day or night. As an Entrepreneur, providing outstanding customer service was very important to him.

In addition to all Stan’s duties as a husband, father, and entrepreneur, part time farmer, he was a founding member and builder of the Athabasca Golf Course. Stan was a very physically active man his entire life and tried to instill those values in his children and grandchildren. He had a tremendous love of sport. Stan pitched many baseball games, loved to curl, and bowl, but his absolute passion was golf. Always in competition with his own score, he was thrilled to experience a hole in one in May 2003 on the 17th hole of the Athabasca Golf Course. Stan played his last round of golf at 95 years with his daughter; Kathy at the Westlock Golf Course on September 9, 2020. He was fortunate to enjoy many rounds of golf over the years with all his family and many dear friends.

Stan was predeceased by his loving wife; Mary of 73 years in 2019. His Parents; Stanley and Dorothy, Father and Mother in law; Andrew and Katie Wurtz, Brothers; Bruce, Ken, Reg, Charlie, John, and Rex. Sister in laws; Gwen Tarrant, Edna McNally, Edna Tarrant. Brother in laws; Steve McNally and Ed Kimpe. Son in Laws; John Mochid, Harry Wildman and Daughter in law; Louise Tarrant.

Stan is survived by his sister; Dorothy Allison of Calgary, brother Lawrence of Grande Prairie, sister in laws; Martha Kimpe of Grande Prairie, Margaret Tarrant of Fort Frances and all eight of his loving children; Stanley L. Tarrant of Westlock, Mary Wildman of Westlock, Dennis (Doreen) Tarrant of Westlock, James (Viv)Tarrant of Athabasca, Robert (Carol) Tarrant of Arizona, Patricia (Morley) Breckenridge of Athabasca, Debra Tarrant of Skeleton Lake, Kathleen (Don) Markowski of Sturgeon County. 19 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren, Numerous Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.

Stan was laid to rest with a Private Interment in the Veterans Field of Honour at the Athabasca Cemetery, alongside his loving wife Mary. Thanks to Reverend Peter Yeung for officiating.
