Jenny Veenstra
1933 - 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Jennie Veenstra announce her passing, surrounded by loved ones, August 3, 2023 just 2 days shy of her 90th birthday.
Jenny was born August 5, 1933 in Neerlandia, Alberta to Henry and Gladys Strydhorst. She was the first of 13 children. Jennie married Arend Dec 22, 1953. She leaves to mourn her 5 children, Dorothy Bacon, Lambert (Loretta) Veenstra, Angie (Al) Breitkreitz, Carolyn (Brian) Aarsen, Henry (Bernie) Veenstra.
Jennie was loved and will be greatly missed by her many remaining siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband Arend, her parents, brother George, grand daughter Candace, brother Andy and brother Jake.
Jennie grew up on a farm north of Neerlandia, in a time before electricity and running water. Jennie learned how to be thrifty and hard working. She never wasted anything, not even KFC buckets or butter wrappers.
Jennie loved gardening, picking wild berries and baking. She loved to travel and went on many trips and cruises with family to Hawaii, Mexico and Holland.
A private viewing for family will take place at Rose Garden Chapel from 9:00-11:00 am on August 10th.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday August 10, 2023 at Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church at 1:00 pm. Internment to follow.
