WARKENTIN, Henry
Henry Warkentin was born to Maria (Goerzen) and Martin Warkentin on June 25th, 1931 in Rosengard, Manitoba. He was the third of four children born to Maria and Martin. Leaving the farming that he loved, he graduated from the Steinbach Bible Institute in 1958. After that he felt called to teach and went to teachers’ college.
In August of 1961, he married the love of his life, Nettie Nikkel, in Grunthal, Manitoba. God blessed their union with four children; two sons and two daughters.
After teaching students in schools for several years he wanted to be able to help in a bigger way, so he went back to the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counselling. The ongoing ministry that he continued well into his 80’s has helped hundreds of people walk in true freedom. In 2000, he authored a book titled ‘Answers and Hope for the Struggling Christian’ through which he continues to help people.
Henry is predeceased by his parents, half-sister Lena, half-brother Cornie, sister Mary and his beloved wife Nettie. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth, brother, Pete (AnneMarie), their children and grandchildren. His four children, son, Jake (Val) from Barrhead, AB and their six children, Jonathan (Briana) and two great-granddaughters, Adeline and Mary Jane; Shannia (Mark); Michael; Amanda (Matthew) and great-granddaughter Annalise; Caden and Charis; daughter, Ruth (Bob) from Caroline, AB and their eight children, Christopher (Emma) and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Daniel; Rochelle; Joshua; Benjamin; Michaela; Matthew; Kirstin and Amy; son, Ken (Chrissy) from Lac La Biche, AB and their five children, Lianna (Greg); Jessie; Levi (Kiera); Katlin and Luke; and daughter Carol (Kevin) from Brandon, MB and their six children, Jeremy (Sarah); Travis; Melissa (Aiden); Andrew (Elizabeth) and great-grandson Malachi; Stephanie and Curtis.
