LOUISE EVELYN ZACHODA
January 17, 1957 – June 22, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Evelyn Zachoda at the age of 63. Louise will be lovingly remembered by her three sons Tyler (Leanne), Tyrell, and Tristan. She will be sadly missed by her niece Vanessa (Mark), nephew Gabriel (Lisa), Uncle Earl, Uncle Alexander, Auntie Irene, and numerous other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dennis (2017) and father Alec (2012).

Louise was born to Alec and Alina Kowalchuk (nee Los) on January 17, 1957, and raised on a small farm in the Greyville district of Athabasca. She graduated high school in 1975 and obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Alberta in 1979.

She married Dennis Zachoda in June of 1978. They built their home on property Dennis purchased from an old friend, Alf Savstedt, in 1980. Together, Louise and Dennis built up the farm and raised their three sons. Though she was a busy mother of three boys and an integral part of the family farm, she also worked diligently as a pharmacist, serving customers in Athabasca until just weeks before her passing.

Louise enjoyed the peace and quiet of country living and the constant possibilities for work that living on a farm provided. When she wasn’t busy caring for her family or working at the pharmacy, she would work at the farm. Louise preferred to keep busy and could rarely be found sitting and relaxing.

Louise enjoyed the adventure of traveling. Over the years she visited Europe, South America, Australia, the Caribbean, Eastern Canada, Africa, China, and New Zealand. Her favorite vacation spot was always Maui, Hawaii.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, and friend, and would always put others' needs ahead of her own. She will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known her.

A Memorial service was held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Missionary Church at 11:00 am, in Athabasca, Alberta.
Donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
