Snow glorious snow, what winter lovers live for.
There hasn’t been much of a shortage of the white stuff, considering the season is still technically autumn. Halloween evening resembled more of a winter wonderland, despite the fact there were ghouls and goblins out and about rather than Christmas decorations.
The snow came down in frigid flurries at Barrhead’s Annual Pumpkin Walk, but the snow covered ground and chilling gusts of wind didn’t put a damper on the excitement of children. Or some of the adults, for that matter.
Still they came, decked out in costume. Maybe the costumes had more layers than they normally would, but with pumpkins glistening in the darkness and candy galore, who noticed?
Businesses and organizations took to their booths, also in costume, to hand out treats and perhaps a few tricks as well.
Volunteers stood dutifully in the cold, manning tables and handing out warm beverages and snacks.
It’s these faithful volunteers that made this delightful event, snowy as it was, a great success.
It was thanks to them those empty trick-or-treating bags weren’t empty for long, that the pumpkin path was glowing on the faces of excited children, and that brave individuals looking for a fright got what they asked for on the scary path.
Let’s not forget the wild entertainment of Footworks Dance Academy, as they froze for the sake of the Monster Mash and Thriller.
The Pumpkin Walk is a perfect example of a community coming together to create a fun and positive atmosphere for youth. Not only was it a great family outing, it made for a safe and organized Halloween night. And who doesn’t love fireworks?
