A few issues with the forum

Dear Editor,

My wife and I attended the All Candidates Forum Monday evening. The Forum was to begin at 7:30 at which time the moderator came out and announced the PC candidate was going to be 20 minutes late.

She made a few announcements and then told us to visit until the PC candidate arrived.

The Wildrose and NDP candidates were there early to visit with the people and set an example of professionalism. To the PC candidate’s benefit, there were too many people so more chairs had to be brought in which took time. The point here is, would the same courtesy have been given to the Wildrose or NDP candidates had they been late? No apology was given for making 200 plus people wait and no explanation.

The moderator should have read up into what her job was. She was not there to entertain us. Wrong venue. The moderator should never walk in front of the candidates. She had a podium and should have stayed there.

Why were microphones not available to each candidate or at least two, one for her and another for the candidates to share? What we saw wasted a lot of valuable time.

It was great to see the turn out, even young people. Perhaps people are starting to wake up, one can only hope.
