The Media – both paper and air – have really dropped the ball on these issues as have the Councilors. Since first inception the Media should have been following and reporting, as these bills will affect every resident and proposed developer future livelihood and financial status.
These bills are for big money populations, not small time business areas which create most employment. Parioplan people probably with the Development Boards blessing definitely found the Fifth tit on the cow. Why have not Athabasca County Councilors not got on board with this deception, zoning issues, reason for very few developments or little growth within the County, especially around Athabasca? Even the Development Board dream of a survey at an average initial cost of 60000 to 100000 dollars or engineering assessment before a development application, only to be told by neighbors not in my back yard is beyond belief.
Why have the Councilors not realized that little industrial and commercial land exists around the Town of Athabasca within Athabasca County? Sure it would be nice to develop around the Airport but with the distance, height and area conditions nothing much will happen there. Also Business needs exposure to survive and expand. The Development idea of year 2020 before zoning review around Athabasca is unrealistic-land is needed now.
The Safety Codes Acts and the Federal and Provincial Building Codes clearly state what is required for building and development and protection of land so WHY do all these long ambiguous Conditions need to be there as the parts of these acts should be all that is required? What do you intend to do with the prior Developments –like bee, sheep, pet, or under 76 acre farmers, or Truckers or front yard small business with a Seacan or people like the Hutterites with multiple sub businesses under farm status or a business that pays high taxes while a farmer sits next door with a business under farm status with farm exemptions? Funny Resource Development is exempt and funny places like beautiful undeveloped Lakes like Ghost and Crooked can have permanent R.V. sites. Why not consider conditions of 2 residences per site for land protection?
Councilors-Media-Residents—GET ON Board with what this Legislation will mean for business development and your future before Athabasca County becomes total Socialistic.
