Dear Editor,
It is a sad day when Town Council have to use back door tactics to force an amalgamation on the County Councillors and ratepayers. I believe the reason for their actions are to try to secure more money for the Town, due to their questionable spending and management policies. It may be in Town Council’s better interest to hire the County Councilors, one day a month, to restructure their spending habits.
The County at the present time donates hundreds of thousands of dollars already to the Town of Barrhead for landfill, FCSS, the Agrena, pool, fire, and much more. The ratepayers that I speak with are very happy with County Management and the accountability they show governing our county.
It is nice to see County Councillors taking the initiative to look into saving six million on the pool project. That shows accountability of ratepayers tax dollars. Nice job County Councillors.
The Town of Barrhead considered asking the Ag Society for $22,000 after receiving a memo detailing the costs to the town of hosting the Wild Rose Rodeo Finals, even though an agreement was made with the Ag Society when the arena was built, that they be allowed to host the rodeo for the investment they contributed. Town Council later agreed to accept the memo as information.
Proud Ratepayer, Barrhead County,
