Blatantly unprofessional

Dear Sir; I was saddened by your comments on April 10, 2012 (Too little, too late), not because of your views about MLAs and committee payments, but because of two very unprofessional comments.

Dear Sir;

I was saddened by your comments on April 10, 2012 (Too little, too late), not because of your views about MLAs and committee payments, but because of two very unprofessional comments.

As your introduction to the (column) you ask rhetorically, “…but frankly, when have I ever really cared what people think?” I have always been under the impression that editors wrote (columns) because they wanted to influence how people think and thus make this world a better place for everyone. Such influence is usually accomplished by reasoned arguments and information presented in a way that will make people reflect about issues important to the community. However, if you don’t care what people think, why should you try to influence how they think? More importantly, if you don’t care what your readers think, why should they pay attention to your thoughts? Your lack of concern about your readers does a disservice to the professional journalists on the Leader’s staff as well as all journalists in general who truly seek to serve their readers with reasoned perspectives and information.

The concluding comment in your editorial, “All hail Zombie Jesus!” is not only grammatically incorrect, it is first of all another example of blatant and unprofessional disregard for your readers. It has no relationship to the content of the editorial and serves no purpose other than to insult those who love the risen and very much alive Christ.

Just think, Mr. Bryant, how much of a blessing you could be if you would be an editor who cares about the community he is called to serve with insight and wisdom, rather than an editor who uses his position to belittle and insult his readers. The Barrhead Leader can be a positive influence in this community under the leadership of a professional editor. I hope and pray that you will grow to become such a professional editor.

Sincerely,

Gary Duthler
