Boo to motel who refused to take pets

Dear Editor,

On Tuesday, July 3rd we came back from a family reunion in Sask. with a very ill relative, she needed to be seen in the emergency at Barrhead Hospital. They have two dogs. We were told by a motel when I called from Edmonton, that they would take them with a “pet deposit.” The other hotels would not take pets. When we arrived and called to check in we were told very rudely: we will not take pets then hung up on. I called back and again was hung up on again.

I then called back to the Barrhead Neighbourhood Inn where the manageress was extremely compassionate to our issue and made an exception to let the family stay with the two dogs. I had made it very clear also I must add, that these were service dogs, in their own kennels, well groomed and would be no problem. (The motel that refused the pets knew this.) The dogs were used to traveling and the “hotel” lifestyle.

I am sending big bouquet and thank you to the Barrhead Neighbour Inn and big thorns and boo you fail to the motel that refused accommodation. We will never use your services!!! Or suggest anyone stay there!!

Oh, why did they not stay with us you may ask? Well there was four of them and we live in a small one bedroom house. I did pay for a room, that was the best we could do. Thank you also to the Barrhead Hospital staff for caring for my cousin Cheryl.
