Lately, a rising number of local organizations have put out the call for more people to step up and help.
Looking around, the vast majority of people volunteering in Athabasca have been in the same post for years and have finally decided it was time someone else stepped up.
You can’t blame them. Many have given up time with friends, family, work, hobbies, etc. in order to live up to their commitment.
With Athabasca experiencing some growth, if you aren’t helping out, what’s stopping you?
Sure, family constraints and work as well as the time crunch can be a hindrance.
However, if you have kids in some sport or activity, why not see what you can do provide some assistance?
If there is a hobby you like doing, can you find a local group that could take advantage of your knowledge and skill?
Do you have a talent that would be useful to an organization and could lend a hand once in a while?
Are you new to town and want to get to know some people?
If the answer was yes to at least one of these questions, take some time this week and look for a group, then make a call. It’ll be worth it.
