There can never be enough fundraisers or awareness campaigns about the numerous, and varied, types of cancer.
And while cancer may not be the biggest killer of Canadians, it certainly is the one that more research is needed to find that one elusive treatment that will make the difference in saving lives.
Cancer touches everyone in some way at some time in their lives – be it themselves who have it or someone they know – and it can be a hard pill to swallow when that person passes away.
The fact there are so many cancers out there means that much more money needs to be raised simply because any number of researchers could be working on a vast number of treatments that are specific to a particular cancer.
That’s why Movember remains just as important of a fundraising campaign as breast cancer’s Wear Pink or the Underwear Affair for cancers below the waste.
Granted though, there is one advantage to being an audience member and not a participant in Movember – the good chuckle at how some look when they shave on Nov. 30.
