The 19th Annual Community Christmas Dinner went off without a hitch at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex last Thursday.
Over 700 guests received a delicious dinner at no cost, while 175 take-out orders were also given out.
Diners of all ages sat down together and enjoyed Christmas dinner while listening to some live holiday music. They feasted on turkey, ham, stuffing, vegetables, bread and lots more, and then washed it all down with some ice cream.
And none if it would have been possible without the superb efforts of all the volunteers involved.
This year there were at least 135 such volunteers working tirelessly to make sure everyone was fed.
The event also receives donations of food, cash and other items needed to make the dinner happen.
One of the blessings of a small community is that you can bring so many members of it together in one place for a special event. At last week’s dinner, Athabascans once again had the chance to share their holiday spirit with each other.
