Clean up after yourself

Dear Editor, I’m writing to express my disappointment in the recent street festival. Though there were many excellent activities for families and great bargains to be had, the mess left behind on mainstreet is a terrible disappointment.

Dear Editor,

I’m writing to express my disappointment in the recent street festival. Though there were many excellent activities for families and great bargains to be had, the mess left behind on mainstreet is a terrible disappointment. It’s a shame that people can’t clean up after themselves, especially with all of the enviromental awareness being taught in our schools and expressed through the media. To see the amount of litter left on the streets to be blown around into hedges and local flowerbeds is very upsetting. I drove to the local hardware store on Saturday after the event had concluded and came to a find large amount of styrofoam plates that had blown under my car with the light breeze. Many of the mainstreet stores have had to spend their Monday morning cleaning the sidewalks in front of their business. I’m not sure if this was a matter of not enough garbage cans being left around or just a general lack of care by the public, but either way... give your head a shake. It’s important to keep our towns clean so that future generations can enjoy things like the street festival, but it’s more important to take care of our surroundings so our future generations have something to be proud of. A clean town is something to be proud of.

That’s just my two cents.
