Close call on Hwy. 33

Dear Editor,

I don’t get worked up very often as a rule to want to write to the Leader, but after a close call on August 12th about 4 p.m. on Hwy. 33 at the south end of the Pembina bridge and after reading the article that was in the paper, I got worked up enough to write. There was a van stuck on the edge of the pavement. If it hadn’t been for a puff of dust coming from the front wheel, I would most likely have hit it. There were two big vehicles coming from the south so I couldn’t go around. There was no signal lights or anything on the van or anything, it’s a good thing no one was close behind me as is often the case on that part of the highway. Lots of people use that area to go down to the river to play and enjoy the weather, but it is a very dangerous place to get on and off the highway. It’s a place looking for an accident to happen - hope not. A lesson for me and others to slow down. I thought I was but it still was a close one.
