Dear Editor,
The annual Barrhead Figure Skating Carnival is being held on Saturday, March 21 and this year, as well as enjoying our present skaters, we are honoured to be celebrating 50 years of club membership.
Skate Canada is recognizing Barrhead for this milestone and we are encouraging all present and past families to become involved.
We are inviting skaters, parents, coaches and friends from over the 50 years to come and enjoy meeting past and present skating folks and socializing.
Barrhead has always had a good base of parents and volunteers to help provide sporting activities for our youth. Fifty years as a club has included many, many folks and thanks to all these parents, skaters and the community, the club is still offering a special opportunity for the skaters of our area.
We want to encourage and invite everyone who has been involved over the 50 years to pick up an application form and return it by March 7th. We want all skaters and their supporters to come and enjoy. Whatever your era is, 1-5-10-15 or more years, we invite you.
For those who are new to town or were not involved in the club, you too are welcome to attend the two shows at 1 and 7 p.m. and show your support for the present skaters.
This is a great honour for Barrhead to be recognized and we don’t want to miss the opportunity to “share, remember and have fun.”
It has been difficult to get the information out to past skaters. Please help if you have any connections and contact others for us. We do not want to miss including as many as possible.
For application forms please pick them up at The Flower Shoppe or Marvin Perry’s Law office or the Barrhead Arena, you can also go to the Figure Skating Club Facebook.
All forms may be dropped off with Chris at the Flower Shoppe. Contact Glenys Perry at 780 674-2002 for details. Hope to see you there.
