Dear Editor,
I make a trip to the Compost Site just East of the Fire Hall every weekend during the summer. When I’m there I notice that people drop off all sorts of things. I’ve seen cardboard, paint cans, 5 gallon pails, garbage bags full of grass and much more. What happens to this stuff that is not compost? Are taxpayers paying somebody to sort through it? Are taxpayers paying somebody to empty out the garbage bags of grass? Do they just throw the bags away when they’re done? So are they actually paying twice, once for the bags and then again paying again paying somebody to empty the bags and throw them out? Is there not somewhere else that people could put all this stuff that is not compost? Could the Town post this information at the site and maybe put it in Braille for the people that are blind?
