Consider all sides to pool issue

Dear Editor,

We are unhappy and dismayed at the actions from both Town and Country Councils on this pool issue. Please settle down and really consider all the facts and ramifications not only short term but long term. Neither Council, Town or County can afford a debt of this size. Interest rates are low now but as the government has warned, they will increase and twenty years is a long time. In the 80’s lots of people lost their homes and some marriages because interest rates went high and they could no longer afford the payments. So we need a pool – yes, but it must be one we can afford to build, operate and maintain. It is a fact that a pool will not make us money or bring more people to our town or county. Maybe we need to consider something that can be built in stages as more money becomes available. There will be necessary expenses for both Councils in the future and we can’t keep raising taxes. Maintenance and growth are expensive. Please everyone, consider all the consequences.
