Councillor clarifies comments

Dear Editor, I would like to address my comments in last week’s paper. The residents “are used to it” because it is already on our skyline (the West Power Line). Yes, I did say that but I meant to say, not all residents were okay with it.

Dear Editor,

I would like to address my comments in last week’s paper.

The residents “are used to it” because it is already on our skyline (the West Power Line). Yes, I did say that but I meant to say, not all residents were okay with it. My comments were meant to say that as an agricultural community that right of away would affect the least amount of farm land on the way to Ft. McMurray as once it went over the Athabasca river, the land was mostly bush and muskeg.

Unfortunately, we as a municipality have no say in which way the power line will go. As an elected official, I try to make the best decisions regarding our ratepayers’ interest in many issues and it is very difficult to satisfy 100 percent in many controversial issues.

Would it have been better or right to say nothing when asked which of the options we as councillors of Barrhead County would prefer?

If any ratepayers are unhappy, here is the person and number to call with your concerns; Nathan Jones, Alberta Powerline 780 420-4184.

Councillor Bill Lane
