Covenant Canadian Reformed School students speak out against Bill 24

Dear Editor, Hello, we are two students in Grades 8 and 9 at Covenant Canadian Reformed School of Neerlandia. We are writing to show that it isn’t just the parents who are opposed to Bill 24, but the students too.

Dear Editor,

Hello, we are two students in Grades 8 and 9 at Covenant Canadian Reformed School of Neerlandia. We are writing to show that it isn’t just the parents who are opposed to Bill 24, but the students too.

We as students should feel safe at our school, but with Bill 24, we’re scared that our safe and caring school might close. Our grandparents helped build this school, and now the school we love could potentially be torn away from us.

Would you like it if something you loved was being taken away from you? This land, Canada, was based on Christian morals when it was founded in 1867. Our Canadian anthem states, “God keep our land glorious and free.” Where has our glorious land gone?  Where has our freedom gone?

What we will always have is our belief in the one true God, which Minister David Eggen fails to recognize, whether he takes our funding away or not. Do you think if the people who founded this land would see us now, they’d be proud of what the government has turned this country into?

Minister Eggen and the NDP government tell us that we can be whatever we want.” So it’s okay for us to say we’re 30-year-old gay atheist men, but it’s not okay if we say we are teenage female Christians? It’s too ridiculous to even talk about! What do you think Canada will be like in 25 years?

Thanks Mr. Eggen for making everyone pay way more money to transfer us all into public schools, where we feel unsafe, uncared for and scared. We really appreciate it.
