No, it isn’t shopping or driving or the weather this time – it’s the always fun-to-watch play we call Alberta politics.
Shock and awe is one way to describe last week’s walk across the legislature by nine now former Wildrose MLAs. Others might be tempted to use more colourful words including deceitful, selfish and downright dishonest.
From the beginning of the Wildrose, some have stated the right would reunite sooner or later with the proper climate.
And considering the Premier has been governing like he stole the opposition’s playbook, combined with the byelection losses and the now apparent severe lack of money for the Wildrose, these nine saw the writing on the wall and took advantage of it – regardless of the price it cost in integrity, philosophy and political ideals.
There will be a lot more to come out over the next weeks and months ahead; count on at least a bit of it to include revelations that will turn the minds, and a few stomachs, about the backrooms of Alberta’s political scene.
So, take this slow time over this next week to rest up – we’re in for a bumpy ride.
