Dispicable theft rankles girls club

Even among the brotherhood of thieves, there has to be an acceptable and unacceptable level of behaviour. Stealing fundraiser money from a non-profit Church Girls Club must be the lowest of all thieves.

Even among the brotherhood of thieves, there has to be an acceptable and unacceptable level of behaviour. Stealing fundraiser money from a non-profit Church Girls Club must be the lowest of all thieves.

Every year the Neerlandia Gems (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Saviour) Girls club (9-12 years of age) does a bottle drive to raise money for their clubs activities. These funds also help support a sister club in Africa and other needs in the community. For 3-4 days a trailer is set out for people to donate their bottles for this fundraiser. The girls go through the work of sorting, counting, and bagging these bottles for the bottle depot. On this occasion the sorting took place in the evening and the trailer was reloaded for delivery in the morning.

We were quite disheartened to find an empty trailer in the morning. We are totally disgusted that someone would stoop so low to steal from a group of young girls. We live in a community built on trust. A theft like this puts community trust in jeopardy.

Thanks to some fast-acting individuals, the police and several bottle depots within the surrounding counties were notified. As a result of this theft, people with large hearts have helped out and the GEMS funds have been abundantly replenished. God’s Blessings never cease to amaze us.

People beware: Some thieves know no boundaries!
