Feeling disconnected?

I’ve been here for almost four months now, and things couldn’t have gone any smoother. I’m sure most of you have already heard about my foray in acting with my portrayal of a prince who isn’t interested in getting married.

I’ve been here for almost four months now, and things couldn’t have gone any smoother.

I’m sure most of you have already heard about my foray in acting with my portrayal of a prince who isn’t interested in getting married. I have probably already run into most of you in town, at some event or another.

Heck, I should have just brought a cot with me to the Barrhead Agrena because it seemed like I never left that place. Not that I’m complaining, I love what I do.

Most folks have been really friendly to me, and I’ve made a lot of friends so far in my short time here.

But alas, my heart has weighed heavy on me since I arrived.

You see, I had to leave a lot of my loved ones and friends’ way back in Ontario, including my girlfriend, who I miss terribly.

I have encountered struggles here that I wasn’t prepared for. I have faced trials that I cannot even begin to disclose. Let’s face it, I am the prince, which I have been reminded… wait a second, I’m not on stage.

One thing I will share with you is my battle with loneliness.

It has been tough. Without the benefit of having new friends and allies in town, I don’t know if I would have lasted.

But, here comes the rainbow at the end of this rainstorm.

As I write this, I am overcome with giddiness. My girlfriend’s plane touches down very soon, and I couldn’t be more excited.

She is the love of my life and the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. Unfortunately, my career has taken me away from her soft embrace, which I have missed big time.

Although she will only be visiting for a week, it will be a week I will treasure.

With all the oil fields in Alberta, I know there are many people who have to be separated from their loved ones for a period of time. I can relate to you.

But if there is one thing I can share with you, it’s that technology has helped keep Jen and I sane. We have spoken pretty much every night since I arrived, which was only possible due to a wonderful piece of free software.

If you haven’t heard of yet, you should find out more about it. It’s called Skype. If you have a microphone, you can use it. If you have a webcam and microphone, then you’re golden.

Skype allows you to make free voice or video calls to anyone that has the program as well. It’s a great tool to keep in touch with a loved one that may be long distance by phone.

It has kept Jen and I connected, while I’ve been in Barrhead pursuing the career I love, though thousands of kilometers separate us.

So for all you lovebirds out there that may be separated from your Romeo or your Juliet, take heart, because there is a great FREE tool out there that can keep you connected.

I am so excited for your arrival Jen. I’m counting down the minutes until we are face to face… again.
