The Edmonton Firefighters Memorial Society held their annual Remembrance service September 11, 2012. The day started with a parade of firefighters to Firefighters Memorial, 103 Street and 83 Avenue, with greetings from many dignitaries – provincial, city and firefighters.
Seventeen retirees have passed away this last year. As each new name was read out, the bell at the Bell Tower was rung by a family member, and a memorial flag was presented to a family member.
John Heron may you rest in peace now, as your job as a firefighter for the city in Edmonton has been completed.
