So, Jim Prentice, Jeff Johnson and the rest of the PCs feel it’s necessary to get a mandate for the budget that was brought down in April.
They already had a massive majority, broke their own law by having an early election, then put the blame on Albertans for the mess Alberta finds itself in because the people keep voting them in.
When Ralph Klein retired, he left the province with zero debt and no deficit.
Since then a combination of Stelmach, Redford, Hancock and Prentice have run up a debt of $23 billion.
To fix this, they propose to run up another $18 to $20 billion in debt, plus spend another $5 billion out of the Sustainability Fund.
In three short years from now, Alberta will be spending $1.8 billion alone on interest payments, to service the $40-45 billion debt.
They have increased taxes 59 different ways, including making it more expensive to die and get a death certificate, more expensive to fill your vehicle up with gas in the 2015 budget, which affects every single Albertan one way or another.
Though PC propaganda states we all must pull our weight on this issue – except of course corporations and increased royalty rates on our oil – it is all right because 10 years from now the PCs will have it all figured out.
The province cannot afford one more year, let alone 10 more years of PC government.
Do the right thing and replace this tired, cultured, elitist, sad excuse of a government and give us some new, fresh air on May 5.
