The race for the open spot on town council will come to a close as the votes get tallied up.

Barbara Bell, Joanne Peckham, Angela Betts and Colleen Powell have all made their case to the community, each of them discussing their qualifications and their reasoning for why residents should vote for them as their newest representative. If you’ve been following the race, you may have already decided which of the candidates will be getting your vote. Or you could be weighing your options before heading to the polls on Monday.

What’s important is that you make your choice count by voting for your chosen candidate. Election turnouts are often low in modern days, for all levels of government. But our democratic system should be appreciated, lest we ever lose it. As a resident of Athabasca, you have a say in its present and future. Vote for the person you believe to be best suited for the job.
