Dear Editor,
The atrocities that twisted minds can inflict upon humanity, humbles us. Even though we feel pain and sorrow over the senseless mass murder and suicide of Sandy Hook, it pales to the horror upon the parents. Why do the mentally disturbed feel the need to lash out at the weak and susceptible? How can we get in front of these atrocities to circumvent them? Where is this evil born from? You can take away the automatic weapons, which do not belong in the hands of the uneducated, yet evil will always find another way. There is no blame to be laid here, because the blame took his own life and fell from grace! Do not blame the mother for she did the best she could in a society that hindered her world. Could it be that society is to blame when governments spend billions on the ultimate weapon? When corporations profit from their weaker employees. Where our health systems fail to recognize the warning signs. How do we rebuild the filth our society is founded upon? Where is the adage, “Protect the weak and innocent.”
It all starts with the individual and the morals instilled there. It all starts with the community that closed its door to their neighbors. In my day when the old lady down the street came out to speak, we showed respect. If she needed help, it was given. Remember it is not just you and yours against the world, we are all on this world together. “Lord help us to see our own misgivings and give us the strength to help those in need.” We all need to change before change is brought upon us. It is not so much about how much time we are given, as about what we decide to do with the time we have.
This Christmas reach out and help those who you would have remember you. Touch someone, it won’t hurt.
Sincerely,
Wayne Krechuniak
