Yes, there is an election going on, but quite frankly how much more can they take from people, especially those that have none to give?
From higher taxes on gas to more fees for government services, to downloading costs onto school divisions and municipalities who simply turn around and increase or institute charges on the public that use those programs, it’s all getting a bit much — especially for people who couldn’t afford the costs of paying for gas to get to and from before the hike, or those who didn’t make enough to put enough food on the table for their family and now have to find a way to figure out how they are going to pay higher school fees.
Okay, government oil revenues are down, but with those who are already scrambling to survive, along with those who have lost jobs and now risk losing what they had, pushing more of a burden on them is simply going to create more problems – such as increasing the pressures on the healthcare and mental health systems that can’t handle those who want help now.
Granted, going millions into debt and not being able pay it off isn’t the best thing for this province either, but there has to be some way to fix the situation without doing so on the back of those who can least afford it.
Because if something doesn’t happen soon, something will break and it won’t look good.
