My husband and I were lucky enough to be visiting from out of province during your River Rats Festival over the Canada Day holiday.
We spent both days enjoying the various musical acts and were impressed with the organizational efforts of all the volunteers that it takes to put together such a large production. These people were constantly moving about the site, making sure everything was running smoothly and that people were enjoying themselves.
The only thing we heard questioned was why the ‘bouncy castle’ area was not set up on Canada Day, but we understand that was a Town of Athabasca function. However, the festival volunteers did have a very popular kids fun and craft area set up that day within the grounds. Many children seemed to be having a great time until 9:00 that night.
We would be very happy to return and enjoy your town’s hospitality in future years. We think one of the best things about a small town is the commitment put in by volunteers because of their love of community. Job well done!
