Klondike thanks volunteers

Dear Editor, On behalf of Klondike Trail Search and Rescue, I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out in the search at Shaol Lake on April 30 and May 1, 2011.

Dear Editor,

On behalf of Klondike Trail Search and Rescue, I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out in the search at Shaol Lake on April 30 and May 1, 2011. The search was called out to look for a missing young man northwest of Barr-head. The search went through the night until 4 a.m.

There were groups called in to assist Klondike Trail from Slave Lake, Drayton Valley, Whitecourt, Parkland and Edmonton Regional all arriving throughout the night. The first operational period had 40 searchers, 41 local volunteers plus RCMP officers and the police helicopter with FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed). The second operational period started at 6:30 a.m. with search and rescue personnel, and by 10 a.m. we had more than 90 local volunteers helping out. I would also like to thank all the ladies that made sandwiches and cookies along with bringing out coffee and juice. Thank you also goes out to the Barrhead IGA for donating all the food for the searchers and volunteers. Again, I thank you and appreciate all the help everyone had done throughout the search.

On behalf of Klondike Trail Search and Rescue, we would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the Frigon family.
