Land rights bills stick in the craw

Dear Editor,

Life as we know it, with all our freedoms, may not be the way of the future. I am crying WOLF, but not without reason. Bills 19, 36, 50 and 24 have been passed to become law. Premier Redford, who initially disagreed with Bill 24 and 36, has since her election crossed over to the other side, signing democracy’s death warrant and our social death warrant along with it. Once you step on that slippery slope, putting decisions in someone else’s hand, there is only one way to go — down. This government could rescind their decision but have decided to proceed. The death knell isn’t over yet . . . there is an election on the horizon and all three other parties have promised to toss these bills. Essentially these bills take away all our rights to due process of the law, because the government has placed themselves ‘above’ the law – literally. Don’t take my word; check out these bills/laws for yourselves. Alberta Landowners Council website is www.AlbertaLandownersCouncil.com. As I understand, things are as follows: they (the government) will be able to control, grant or cease to grant your water, what you plant for crops, whether you have dairy, hogs, cattle and you will have no say and no recourse to fight them. They will be making decisions from Edmonton, with direction from Ottawa. Our local mayor and councillors will have no say. They will do as they are told – not by us. We will do as we are told. Scary, isn’t it? This information is the tip of the iceberg. Please listen to Keith Wilson who really has a handle on the pulse of this matter. Whatever his political affiliation is doesn’t change the meaning of these bills. If I do not have all the information, I need to make an informed choice come election time. Please feel free to get me that knowledge.
