With the upcoming election looming, I would be very interested to know which current Athabasca County candidates supported the previously proposed Land Use Bylaw.
For those not familiar, the bylaw would have imposed restrictions on the use of privately owned land and placed a tax on such use.
The tax was touted as a permit, but it was in fact a tax.
Do any of the new candidates running for county council support this bylaw?
This issue was set aside early this summer but I'm sure it will be brought forward during the next term.
This bylaw directly affects your rights as landowners and gives the county bylaws officer the authority to enter your land uninvited or announced and fine you for infractions related to the land use bylaw.
The fact that the council even allowed such a overreaching bylaw to progress as far as it did is very worry some.
Is this the type of county council you want representing you?
