Dear Editor,
In the Barrhead Leader volume 85, number 15 of Tuesday, April 10, 2012, I read the editorial written by Tim Bryant called Too little, too late.
While I appreciate his thoughts regarding the issues surrounding the “do-nothing” committee, I was disturbed by two comments he made that really have nothing to do with the subject at hand.
First; the comment made that Tim does not care about what other people think. If that is the case, why would he write an editorial in the first place? Nobody might care to read his thoughts either. This is a statement that shows immaturity and disrespect to the reader and would put Tim in the category of people as Khaddafi, Mugabe, etc. They didn’t care about other peoples thoughts either.
I am personally interested in Tim’s thoughts as an editor (and I know that editorials are supposed to be somewhat provocative), but if there cannot be mutual respect that way, then the reason to read his editorials is rapidly disappearing.
Second; the last comment made regarding the “All hail Zombie Jesus.” This comment, besides the offensiveness, did not add anything positive to the article and it is my suspicion that the only function of this comment is to relieve some personal frustrations. It is fine to have objections to anything faith-related or worldview-related for that matter, but it would be good to not use a public forum like this newspaper to offend in this way.
If Tim would like to write an educated and well founded piece regarding theological disputations in a respectful manner, I would welcome that. Since this is the second time he has gone (in my opinion) over the bounds in this area, I am disappointed in the newspaper having published this.
In the past I have used the Barrhead Leader to post ads for our business. I will not use the Leader again for this purpose, since I do not want my business to be associated with a publication that does not reflect standards of respect that we have in our business and our families. Please reconsider publishing sub-standard articles like this again, I would regret having to cancel my subscription because of this (since my children also read the newspaper and commented on this as well).
I look forward to future editions with quality content.
