Letter: Reduce the complaining

First, let me state that I did not vote for the NDP. I did not like their approach to Environmental Protection – a Carbon Tax. That being said, the majority of Albertans voted the NDP into power with a vast majority.

First, let me state that I did not vote for the NDP. I did not like their approach to Environmental Protection – a Carbon Tax. That being said, the majority of Albertans voted the NDP into power with a vast majority. Now the Carbon Tax is a reality, all I hear is moaning, groaning and complaining about this tax. This is a large part of what Albertans voted for when the NDP was given power. Did Albertans not understand the Carbon Tax, or did they vote for a party without understanding the NDP platform or was it just to oust the party that was currently in power?

Am I happy or satisfied with the Carbon Tax? No! Am I upset that the NDP brought this tax into fruition? No! This was a large part of their platform and I believed this is what the majority of Albertans wanted. Living in a democracy, I am willing to go along with the majority.

The NDP was given a 4 year mandate. The next election will indicate whether or not the NDP is given a second mandate. In the meantime, complaining about this tax is futile. If, truly, the majority of Albertans are unhappy with the Carbon Tax, please give more thought about all individual party platforms before marking your X in the next election.

One more comment to upset more people....leadership in politics is about only two things – power and going down in history. Ms Notley wishes to be in the history books as the Canadian leader in Climate Change. The other two major party leaders were about power.

Was the NDP the wrong choice? Not if the majority of Albertans still support the party.

Let’s reduce the complaining and put that energy into getting on with our lives.
