More fun on the way

As the crowds dispersed from one multi-day event, another one is just around the corner.

As the crowds dispersed from one multi-day event, another one is just around the corner.

With the feeling of the Alberta 55 Plus Summer games still lingering in the air, Barrhead will soon be bustling with activity again as the Blue Heron Fair swiftly approaches.

Each year the event ensures there’s a little something for everyone. An impressive 76 by 25 foot model train display is sure to impress both young and old at the Exhibition Grounds.

Have a number of small children who don’t like trains? No problem, bring them to the petting zoo, bouncy castles or balloon artist. Don’t forget to seek out the new giant bouncy slide.

Little ones even have the opportunity to get involved in the Wildrose Rodeo by way of sheep riding and retrieving ribbons off the tails of calfs. Then there’s the boot race.

And who doesn’t love a smashing good time? The demolition derby looks like it will be bigger and better than last year, especially with a larger cash prize of $2,000. Organizer Greg Petruchik got creative with the winning trophies too, welding them out of car parts for a one-of-a-kind prize.

Prepare yourself for another weekend full of fun, action, and time with family and friends in the always-active, vibrant town of Barrhead.
